This scholarship is part of SMPS Seattle's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts to help diversify membership and help provide opportunities for BIPOC individuals and DBE, WBE, MBE, VBE, LGBTBE firms to elevate their marketing efforts. We want members to feel welcomed, accepted and celebrated for their unique perspectives.
 SMPS Seattle is offering up to (8) scholarships to pay for one year’s membership to SMPS Seattle.

(2) scholarships will be dedicated to non-members
(2) scholarships will be dedicated to current members
(2) scholarships will be dedicated to those affiliated with a firm designated as D/W/M/V/LGBTBE
(2) scholarships will be dedicated to those who identify as BIPOC


The winner will be chosen based on their current SMPS involvement or if a new member, interest in future involvement, and proven benefit to the applicant.


This application is intended to help SMPS understand your interest in and need for the scholarship. We welcome and encourage ALL individuals to apply.


If the application is incomplete or identifies who you are, the applicant will be disqualified.
Applications are scored according to the following rubric:

 Years of Experience
 Interest (25 pts)
 Value/Need (15 pts)

Applications are collected and awarded twice per year; March & October.

Calling all SMPS members and non-members interested in emceeing the SMPS Seattle’s Reign Awards! We are looking for professionals who exemplify extensive experience, knowledge, and understanding of marketing, communications, and creative services. This could include A/E/C professionals or professionals from a related communications industry who have had significant experience with marketing collateral, event planning, graphics, digital media, website design, or branding. An understanding of the A/E/C industry is a bonus but not required.
 

Reign Awards Gala
Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Nordic Museum from 5:30-8:30 pm.
 

Time Requirements
 

  • Work with the SMPS Seattle Special Events Committee and co-hosts on program content. Time commitment: 10+ hours.
  • Rehearsal time with the SMPS Seattle Special Events Committee and co-hosts. Time commitment: 2+ hours.
  • Participate in the Reign Awards. Time commitment: 4 hours.


Application Process
A successful emcee is someone who has been involved with an understands the mission of SMPS Seattle, is comfortable being recorded and/or speaking at the event and understands being a marketer or business developer in the A/E/C industry. Prior attendance at a Reign Awards event is preferred but not necessary. No other previous experience is required, nor is being a member of SMPS. We welcome nominations or self-nominations of individuals or pairs who might be interested.

*Note that emcees are not eligible to submit a project to the Reign Awards

Marketing Advocate of the Year
This award is presented to an individual that is a stellar supporter of marketing who does not work in marketing specifically or have marketing in their title. This individual is committed to furthering and encouraging their own firm’s or industry partners’ marketing efforts on a daily basis. They assist their team by going out of the way to understand the mission and efforts of marketing. Nomination statements submitted for this category should focus on the individual’s achievements and efforts and clearly indicate how they go above and beyond the call of duty. We encourage you to nominate Firm Principals and Partners, seller/doers and collaborators who you believe should be recognized for their marketing efforts.
 

Andy Zinsmeyer Member of the Year
In honor of the first member of SMPS, Andy Zinsmeyer, this award is presented to an SMPS member who has been actively involved within the chapter. This individual is very committed to the continuous growth and improvement of the chapter. Their efforts over the past year have made a marked difference in the chapter’s success, whether it is a difference that affects the entire chapter or simply one component. Nomination statements submitted for this category should focus on the individual’s achievements directly related to SMPS Seattle.
 

Rising Star
This award is presented to an SMPS member who has been an SMPS Seattle member for two years or less. This individual has made a proactive effort to be involved in the opportunities offered by the SMPS Seattle chapter and has shown great dedication to the success of the chapter and to their own growth and development. Rising Stars typically engage with the chapter in multiple ways and look to utilize all that SMPS offers, but they also seek to give back. Nomination statements submitted for this category should focus on the individual’s achievements directly related to SMPS Seattle.
 

BD/Communications/Marketer of the Year
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding marketing efforts and leadership within their firm during the past year. This is an opportunity for members or non-members to recognize marketing, communications and/or business development achievements accomplished within a colleague’s firm and/or the A/E/C industry in general. Nomination statements submitted for this category should focus on the individual’s achievements directly related to their firm and/or the overall A/E/C industry.

SMPS Seattle’s annual Reign Awards recognizes excellence in marketing communications and outstanding achievements of top marketing professionals. Project Awards will be granted to A/E/C firms whose materials and campaigns most compellingly achieve their firms’ marketing goals. 


Submitting for the Reign Awards provides firms with an unparalleled opportunity for peer recognition and expert feedback. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding efforts made by local A/E/C firms and individuals who have a real passion for marketing and communications in our industry. Submittals are open to both member and nonmember firms and individuals.
